Having heard several versions of this story from people in the neighborhood I am happy to see the SUN is reporting weekend “events”.

LOWELL — A weekend of violence outside the Europa Cafe on Central Street has police planning to file a complaint with the city License Commission as early as Thursday, but the club’s owner says her lounge and function hall have nothing to do with the problems….

I plan to attend Thursday’s License Commission meeting; it will certainly be an interesting one.
I am particularly interested to hear how these things happen outside the front door of your business at 1:30 AM and you don’t call the police (a practice for which residents in our neighborhood were recently scolded by LPD…). The club owner is quoted saying; “her lounge and function hall have nothing to do with the problems… she was already closed before anything occurred”.
I understand the reluctance to call police, but I find it difficult to believe that even though the bar was closed, there was no one inside who noticed and thought it might be a good idea to call the police. I wonder if expanding the LPD/LDNA/Bar Owners meetings might be a good idea.
